Cavin is responsible for client relationship management and leading the team’s investment and wealth strategy. His client coverage spans across Canada with a focus on the GTA and Southwestern Ontario. He has 17 years of progressively senior experience in capital markets and wealth management with two of Canada’s largest financial institutions.
After graduating with distinction from the Ivey School of business, Cavin began his career as an investment banking analyst with TD Securities. During his tenure, he had the opportunity to work with leading corporate and institutional clients where he helped analyze and advise on mergers, acquisitions, and financings. He later went on to a credit risk management role, focusing on the bank’s international corporate clients. Cavin’s unique experience working with some of Canada’s largest pension plans and complex risk management situations shaped the pension-style investment management approach that his team brings to clients today. Cavin transitioned from capital markets to wealth management in 2011 and subsequently built his client base at a rapid rate. He was named the #1 developing advisor nationally at TD Wealth and subsequently appointed to their national advisory council to advise the firm’s leadership on strategic business initiatives. Drawn to the leading investment and wealth management capabilities at RBC Dominion Securities, Cavin and his team transitioned to RBC in 2016.
Cavin holds the Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation, is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI) and passed the CFA level 1 exam. Cavin sits on the Board of Directors for the London Middlesex Humane Society and chair's the finance committee. He is also a volunteer for SickKids hospital in Toronto, Boston Terrier Rescue Canada and Wounded Warriors among others. He lives an active lifestyle and can often be found spending time with his beloved boston terrier, Ivey.
