Cavin is responsible for client relationship management and leading the team’s investment and wealth strategy. He has 15 years of progressively senior experience in capital markets and wealth management with two of Canada’s largest financial institutions
Drawing on Cavin’s background in capital markets and RBC’s leading market research, the team’s investment strategy is focused on delivering consistent, stable returns through a ‘pension-style’ approach. Often Cavin will engage RBC’s financial and estate planning professionals for added expertise when putting in place comprehensive wealth management strategy for his valued clients. The wealth planning process will typically involve long term cash-flow forecasting to help clients understand their financial flexibility in retirement and identify optimal tax, estate planning and charitable giving strategies.
Prior to joining RBC Dominion Securities, Cavin worked on Bay Street with corporate and institutional clients in the capital markets business of a major Canadian bank. During his tenure, he helped analyze and advise on over $3 billion of corporate mergers and acquisitions, and over $1 billion in financings for public companies. He later went on to a credit risk management role in the firm’s credit capital markets division, focusing on the bank’s international corporate clients. Cavin graduated with distinction from the top-ranked Honours Business Administration program at Ivey Business School. He holds the Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation and is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI). He was named the #1 Developing Investment Advisor nationally at a former firm, and was also appointed to their National Advisory Council to advise the firm’s senior leadership on high-level initiatives. Cavin sits on the Board of Directors for the London Middlesex Humane Society and chair's the finance committee. He is also an active fundraising volunteer for SickKids, Boston Terrier Rescue Canada and Wounded Warriors.
