1) Initial 30 Minute Meeting

Once you are interested in working with Montgomery Ouimet Wealth Management, we will book an initial 30 minute meeting with you, perhaps over coffee.

This meeting is intended to allow us to get to know each other.

Are we a good fit for you?

Are you a good fit for us?

We will have a brief look at your financials to gauge your situation and discuss with you how these three following processes would unfold:

  • myGPS

Goals. Priorities. Solutions.  Our planning discovery program will help identify, plan, track and help realize your wealth goals

  • Investment management process

How we propose to manage your investments. We use customized models for our investment portfolios. In general we use the models as a guideline and then tailor the portfolio based on your objectives, risk tolerance and tax situation.

  • Wealth management process

How we propose to help manage your tax situation, estate and trust plans, proper corporate structure, adequate insurance, banking solutions and intergenerational wealth transfer.

2)  myGPS Discovery Meeting

After the initial 30 minute meeting, we will then book a 60 minute myGPS Discovery Meeting. In this meeting we will ask you about your most pressing financial issues, changes to your family situation or dynamic, and the impact on current financial and estate plans. We will ask you to identify any health considerations or potential upcoming needs for you or your family members.

Other details will allow us to:

  • Forecast any changes to your professional status or timelines for retirement
  • Review your overall retirement goals and aspirational lifestyle targets and aims
  • Identify any large pending or expected expenditures, such as vacation properties, vehicles or vacations, and budget accordingly.
  • Factor in educational considerations for young family members, including children and grandchildren.
  • Identify charitable and philanthropic goals

This meeting would likely be at your residence, where all of your important papers would be close at hand.  We could also do this on a Zoom or WebEx video call.  (We regularly meet virtually with all our clients, so we can be on their team when they need us most)

3)  Recommendations Meeting

 Next, we book a 60-90 minute Recommendations Meeting, usually at our offices so you can meet all of our team. In this meeting we will walk you through;

Your Personal myGPS, which will give you:

  • An easy-to-read summary of your current net worth, goals, action items, and more.
  • Recommendations in the following areas: savings targets, debt repayment, investment goals, retirement planning, insurance, estate planning, and tax planning.
  • We will follow up with connections via email to experts in our network (accountants, estate planning pros, estate lawyers, insurance agents, banking pros)

We will also walk you through your Investment Management Proposal which will give you:

  • A roadmap of how we will invest your money in our proprietary equity and fixed income models.
  • The path to implementation of the portfolio, given the markets of the day. We don’t believe in market timing, rather a gradual layering of investing over time – usually six months or less.
  • An asset allocation for any work retirement plans such as Defined Contribution Pension Plans or Group RRSPs that are held through your employment – the oversight of which is often forgotten, but integral.

4) Account Opening Meeting

Should we decide to work together, we will prepare all the necessary paperwork and take care of everything needed to transfer and open your registered and non-registered accounts. Your assets may be transferred in cash or in-kind. Any fees related to transfer will be covered on our end.
