Giving Back
My family and I moved to Canada in 1973 some 40 years ago from Tanzania. And to this day we are still very grateful to Canada and the Canadian people for how well they have received and treated us.
Today, my two young boys (Aqil and Kiyaan) now have the good fortune of not worrying about a roof over their heads, having clothes on their backs, food on their table or living in a safe and peaceful environment.
Unfortunately, this is not the case for millions of children around the world and this, frankly, is unacceptable! I believe we have an obligation to give back to those who are less fortunate, not just in Canada, but around the world, in any way that we can. Throughout my life I have personally made cash donations to various charities whose primary focus is to help less fortunate children. In recent years I have gone a step further, and have actively participated in various adventures and activities to help raise funds for these children’s charities (please see below for further information).
Thank you for your interest and please call me if you wish to get more information on any of these trips or the next one.
Sincerely,
Karim
Christmas Brunch - 2017
Karim hosts a Christmas brunch each year as a way to show appreciation to his clients and as a way to give back to the less fortunate. Karim and his clients donate food as well as toys to local food banks and toy drives in an effort to ensure everyone can enjoy the holidays. This year, Karim and his clients donated over 155lbs in canned goods to the Thorncliffe Food Bank and over dozens of toys and as a result, Karim was presented with a certificate of recognition.
Bruce Trail hike for charity – 2017
Karim supports many charitable causes as his way to teach his children and give back to the community. This includes climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in his birthplace of Tanzania in support of Amani, home for street children in Tanzania, to climbing Mt. Atlas in Morocco in support of World Partnership Walk, which raises funds to help end global poverty.

2016 At A Glace
Karim supports many charitable causes as his way to teach his children and give back to the community. This includes climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in his birthplace of Tanzania in support of Amani, home for street children in Tanzania to climbing Mt. Atlas in Morocco in support of World Partnership Walk, which raises funds to help end global poverty.
It also includes less strenuous activities like helping organize dinner galas and boat cruises to raise funds for these charities.
In the last five years, Karim has either donated himself or helped raise nearly $150,000 for both these causes.
In addition, he hosts an annual Christmas brunch that, in the last two years, has raised over 400 pounds of non-perishable food items and close to 100 toys for the Chum Christmas Wish Foundation.
Save the Children Canada - Morocco Challenge 2013
In May 2013, Karim and about 20 of his closest friends will be going to Morocco to climb up the High Atlas Mountains to again prove to themselves that they can do it and to raise funds for children in Burkina Faso, West Africa. This challenge is in support of Save The Children Canada. More information and pictures to come!
Amani Orphanage in Tanzania - Kilimanjaro Challenge 2009
In December of 2009, Karim and 6 of his friends climbed up the highest mountain in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro. This trip was to raise much needed funds for an orphanage in Tanzania (Karim's birth place). As this was one of the items on Karim's bucket list, it was an adventure of a life time.
