Chaos Theory

Chaos theory is defined as a field of study in mathematics, with applications in several disciplines including meteorology, physics, engineering, economics, psychology and biology. I define Chaos theory as life. I’ll be honest - I had a rough week filled with mucus and disappointment – but it’s nothing worth talking about or boring you with. It’s all perspective anyway, isn’t it?

Speaking of perspective, I recently I provided some assistance to a client who came to me, terribly concerned about his late father’s estate. His concerns were real and his situation all too common – so I share this with you today to help you avoid this definition of chaos theory.

client’s father had recently passed away without a Will, and had left no instructions detailing where his personal accounts had been housed. client had spent almost a year attempting to locate all of his father’s different accounts at multiple banks and brokerage firms, and was still uncertain that everything was accounted for.

I can’t help but that think that there are many others who may be in similar situations – without even knowing it – and I want you all to know that I have a solution that could save you months – even years – of aggravation and uncertainty. I’ve had a tool created, called The Family Inventory, that provides you with a comprehensive list of all the information pertaining to your family's current financial status: personal information, assets, accounts, policies as well as legal and advisory contacts.

Completing this inventory is also a first step in developing an estate plan. The workbook can help ensure that all assets are accounted for and considered, and that beneficiaries are taken care of. I know from those who have used the tool that an up-to-date inventory proves to be an invaluable resource to surviving heirs, executors and trustees as an estate is settled.

Due to the level of detail and personal information, I’ve suggested that clients keep the information safe and secure by storing a printed copy in an RBC safety deposit box. If you would like a complimentary copy of the Family Inventory, just say the word and we can work on it together.

Enjoy the weekend.
