How many times do you hear that a day? This is how most of my conversations begin:

Me – “Hey! How are you?”
You – “Good, I’ve been sooooooo busy!”

Hey, I’m busy too – super duper busy - but as of late, I’ve chosen to acknowledge being busy in a different light. For example, I was just chatting with a friend this afternoon and we reminisced about how we used to “think” we were busy and laughed at our old naive selves. By that theory, we are all perpetually busy, so why are we letting our “busy” status get in the way of so much? What would you rather be doing if you weren’t so busy? Yea, me too …

This same friend once told me that if he wasn’t so “busy” he would be saving hundreds in banking fees and interest charges because he’s too busy to consolidate his bank accounts or pay his Visa off in full on time (even though he has the money sitting right there).

A colleague of mine has all of her money sitting in cash because she was too busy to decide if she is going to invest in the market or buy a bigger home… a year has gone by and her money has missed out on an incredibly strong year for global equity markets…

If this is starting to sound familiar, it may be worthwhile to take a step back and make some time to sort things out (ironically, spending time to do this provides an ROI on your time) ...and if it has anything to do with money, all you really have to do is call me and I’ll take care of it for you. Seeing as how we’re all so busy all the time, there is no time like the present to just get it done.

So, the next time someone asks how you’re doing, think twice about it...

I prefer to respond by saying that I’m awesome.
