Slow Down

Last weekend I slowed life down, yogi style with the WOA Corporate City Break Yoga Retreat at the beautiful and scenic Deerhurst Resort in Muskoka.

Lead by the inspiring and positively remarkable Julie Zuzek (The Corporate Yogi) and Toronto’s most sought after yoga teacher and bend-alicious nutritionist, Teshia Maher, the 11 of us indulged in the luxury of yoga, meditation and rejuvenation.

Julie said it best in her latest blog entry summarizing the retreat, “we all operate at full-steam capacity chasing goals and tackling seemingly endless to do lists, but it’s important to remember that we can also make great progress and advances in life by slowing things down and taking retreat. Who knows, you may turn your life upside-down, or even learn how to stand on your own head" …

We each took the idea of ‘standing on your own head’ literally during our headstand workshop – which at first glace was something that sounded ludicrous, especially to me (you know, the girl who broke her neck once) - but with the guidance and support of those around me, I was able to do the unthinkable, reminding myself again that a lot of what we deal with each day is mind-over-matter.

The same can be said about mind-over-money: the idea of overcoming the money disorders that threaten our financial health. The most prevalent notion I’ve come across is the idea that you need to already have “a lot” of money saved before you can seek the advice of a financial professional. The "waiting until I have enough money" thought is a self-fulfilling prophecy because the advice you need to grow your money is the advice you're forgoing by waiting. You have to start somewhere and you might as well start today.

No matter how you define ‘wealth’, I am more than happy to asses your current situation and steer you in the right direction – even introducing you to my trusted colleagues at the bank if it suits your best interests to make sure that you’re getting the right advice before you need it.

Enjoy the weekend.
