Strength in Numbers

Good news for RBC yesterday made shareholders even happier when the stock hit an all-time record high of $75.93 (briefly in the morning).

The hype is thanks to solid second-quarter profits of 2.2 billion with earnings growth in Wealth Management, Canadian banking and other key divisions of the bank.

The $2.2-billion profit amounted to $1.47 per share (15% more than the same period in 2013) and adjusted for non-cash items, the EPS (earnings per share) of $1.49 beat analyst expectations of $1.44 per share.

I found it particularly fitting that this news was released during our annual RBC Dominion Securities Partner Golf Day – a day where us nvestment Advisors and Branch Managers invite our banking partners to spend the day on the course to collaborate, get to know one another better and have a little (ok more than a little) bit of fun.

As I looked around at my colleagues in their plaid pants and visors, I felt confident that these record earnings are also a reflection of our efforts to continually provide our clients with a holistic team approach.

I want you to think of my team as a one-stop-shop offering you the best that RBC can offer. Coming from a diverse RBC background, have carefully assembled a team of banking professionals who work collaboratively to deliver the key solutions you need – key members of my team including partners from RBC personal banking, commercial banking, small business banking and private banking offering you a full suite of banking options and a sophisticated range of credit tools. I also encourage joint meetings with these extended team members in an effort to remain on the same page and work together with your best interests in mind.

If you’re wondering how my golf game was, I too hit an all-time record high of only losing 3 balls the entire day! (the first time I played I donated about 18 to nature) …so I’m happy to say that I wasn’t as terrible as I usually am.

Enjoy the weekend.
