Professional & Academic: Thomas joined RBC Dominion Securities in 2016. Prior to joining RBC, he worked for 10 years in commercial real estate, planning and coordinating large projects throughout British Columbia. However he always had a passion for finance and economics, and working with people on a more personal level - So in 2016, he departed from his well-established role and made a mid-career change into the financial services industry.
Since joining Dominion Securities, Thomas has qualified for RBC's prestigious President's Club for four consecutive years. Qualifying for President's Club is a significant accomplishment and one of RBC Dominion Securities' longest standing traditions. Individuals receiving this honour demonstrate a strong commitment to client experience, integrity and an excellent work ethic.
A graduate of Simon Fraser University, Thomas holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and is licensed in both securities and life insurance.
Personal: Thomas grew-up in several small towns throughout Nova Scotia.His modest upbringing instilled in him an extremely strong work ethic and, perhaps more importantly, a great appreciation for financial literacy and prudent financial management.
He now lives on the North Shore with his wife, 2 young sons, and beloved dog - a 10 year old Shiba Inu. With a diverse family background, Thomas and his wife have strong international connections and frequently visit the Philippines, India and other parts of Asia.
Hobbies and Community Involvement: Outside of work and family, Thomas enjoys playing hockey, golf and boxing. After playing competitive hockey until entering University, Thomas then coached minor hockey for several years while completing his degree. He then continued to be involved with the sport as a skating instructor with the Vancouver Parks Board for an additional 7 years.
Thomas is a strong believer in giving back to the community and is actively involved with several non-profit organizations throughout the lower mainland. He recently sat on the Cabinet for the GenNext initiative of the United Way of the Lower Mainland, and volunteers once a week as a Coach and Mentor for HEROS hockey which provides a free, afterschool hockey program for underprivileged youth in East Vancouver.
