An update on U.S. equities

In this video, Brad Willock, Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager, North American Equities, with RBC Global Asset Management, discusses the current market environment for U.S. equities and shares his outlook for the next year. In particular, he explores the potential impact of tighter monetary policy and debt ceiling negotiations, and how he is positioning his portfolio in response.

Supply chain issues ease, Chinese economy slows, inflation remains a concern

In this video, RBC Global Asset Management’s Chief Economist, Eric Lascelles, continues to review the latest developments around COVID infections and the global economy. The U.S. economy has passed its pre-pandemic peak despite weak employment numbers, while Canada faces the opposite scenario. Growth in China trajectory appears to be slowing, while shipping costs and container ship delays are slightly improving. Inflation will likely remain high in the near term, driven by high energy costs and housing market prices.

The new challenges facing Canada’s small businesses

Canada’s small businesses have already proven their resilience. To seize the opportunities that this historic crisis created, they’ll need to call on that spirit again. Building on our 2020 report, Small Business, Big Pivot, we’ve identified four major challenges likely to confront them in the months ahead. With small firms accounting for more than 40 percent of Canada’s private sector GDP, their success in overcoming them will be the country’s success.
