The Creation of the Moffat Wealth Management Program

I created the Moffat Wealth Management Program in 1997, basing the program off of my own market research and interviews with numerous high-net-worth individuals, each with unique circumstances. These clients were looking for a fully integrated program that analyzed and managed all aspects of their financial lives through three major phases of life: accumulation, consumption (retirement), and succession of the wealth they have created.

Through the course of interviewing and conducting market research, we found consistent themes among the comments of these individuals, including a desire to:

  • Simplify the financial aspects of their household
  • Understand their overall net worth nor asset allocation
  • Understand the risks involved in their overall investment strategy
  • Understand their accounts, financial assets and how decisions and recommendations are made.
  • Organize their approach to their accounts, allocation, and performance
  • Create a financial plan for savings and investing in order to help reach their retirement objectives
  • Understand the roles of estate planning and insurance within their overall plan.
  • Increase predictability of assets, rather than leaving the future to hope or chance.
  • Have confidence they are receiving proactive, leading edge financial management
  • Receive better reporting
  • Use their time more efficiently

This is how the clients I spoke with defined what success looked like to them.
