When I reflect back on why I entered this field, the decision was largely impacted by my dad. He was a Credit Union Manager for over 40 years and taught me the importance of managing your money and saving for the future. I would often accompany him to work, get to go into the vault and watch him interact with colleagues and clients. I remember thinking, “Wow - my dad has the greatest job”. I suppose you could say from an early age, I developed an appreciation for saving money and helping others in their pursuits. Today, I feel fortunate to be the leader of an extremely talented team who is client-focused and committed to going the extra mile. Our philosophy is built on the fact that we want to support our clients with wealth management -- not just money management. This entails supporting our clients in finding a financial plan that works for them today, and also for their future.
In 2004, I joined RBC Dominion Securities. I have been fortunate to have great mentors throughout my career. I developed invaluable experience while working through two large recessions and one global pandemic. My clients who are business owners and corporate executives say I am very relatable because I have experience from other industries too. I learned a lot while working in marketing for Budweiser and as a pharmaceutical sales rep for an international company. The finance industry was always the end goal which is why I attained my Bachelor of Business Administration – Marketing and Finance from the University of Regina, sought specialized training in high-level investment strategies and attained the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation. At the firm, I am very proud to have been consecutively recognized for providing premium wealth advice, leading with integrity and always putting our clients first (7 consecutive years).
Growing up in a small town in Saskatchewan, I developed a passion for hockey. I played three years with the Moose Jaw Warriors and two years with the University of Regina Cougars. Sports have always been a true passion of mine and the skills I picked up on the ice have served me well in my professional life. Things like discipline, sacrifice, teamwork and working under pressure are at the core of my belief system and are values that I hope to pass on to my 3 boys - Ethan (20), Logan(13) and Rylan(11). I enjoy every moment of being a husband and father, and am proud of my children's achievements on and off the ice - recently my eldest son was accepted into a Law program and I hope that he will enjoy the challenges this new path brings.
