The Weekly Insight report from RBC Wealth Management this week highlights the strength of the US market's recent earnings.

Good afternoon,

This week’s Weekly Insight can be found here. In it, you will find a compelling analysis of the current US earnings season (companies reporting their quarterly earnings for the first three months of the year). Kelly Bogdanova, co-chair of RBC Wealth Management’s Global Portfolio Advisory Committee out of our San Francisco office, puts forward a compelling case for optimism in corporate America—highlighting the 15% y/y growth in corporate earnings before the effect of US tax cuts, and her expectation of more good news to come. She highlights a few areas of concern that I myself have shared with clients, the flat US yield curve, policy uncertainty (including tariff concerns), but commits that the bull market remains intact.

Further in the report you will see some more international comments, not all of which are positive developments (the UK Brexit vote in jeopardy, Chinese weakness on tariff concerns, etc.) but most with some silver linings. I will be watching with interest how the recently announced “end” to war on the Korean peninsula affects markets on the Eurasian markets; this is a significant development, to be sure.

Enjoy your weekend! Go Jets Go!

Sam
