Karen grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the youngest of four children. Her father was a Chartered Accountant and the talk around the dinner table was educational around business, finance and investing. Two of her three brothers have long careers at RBC, and her husband is a retired career banker. Karen and her husband have two sons who have both studied business at Dal and working in the financial world. She is a graduate of Dalhousie University and moved to Ontario in 1998.
Karen started in the industry as an Associate and joined RBC Dominion Securities in 2010 as an Investment Advisor & Financial Planner. She has since obtained her Chartered Investment Manager and Portfolio Manager Designations. In 2016 she was recognized as part of the prestigious President’s Circle – a small group of advisors recognized for going above and beyond in terms of building their business, incorporating wealth advice, servicing clients, working with RBC partners, and giving back to the community.
Karen has volunteered at Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre since 2013 and is active with various community groups. She loves to run and can be found every Saturday morning at Runner’s Core in Ajax with her running friends.
