From small roots; a story of commitment, diligence, and character.
Growing up in rural Alberta, delivering the Calgary Herald as well as working in the family’s local Hardware and Drygoods store from a very young age was Dave’s first real introduction to money and commerce. It was from these early experiences that he learned the valuable lessons of “hard work”, the importance of honesty in everything you do, and to always treat others fairly.
Having entered and won numerous stock competitions in both junior high and senior high school, as well as in university and nationally in the Globe and Mail’s Canadian stock challenge, it was then that Dave realized his interest in markets, global politics and current events. Continuing to hone his business acumen and skills, he obtained a degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Calgary and then carried on to article at the global accounting firm of KPMG. This experience provided Dave with an intricate look into the financial workings of a broad array of businesses.
With a love and unmatched work ethic for the markets, in 1998, Dave made the transition into the investment world. Having received offers from all of the major investment firms, Dave elected to join the largest and arguably the best firm in Canada, RBC Dominion Securities. Over twenty-one years later, many families now trust and rely on Dave and his unique skills, honed over his lifetime, for their own financial success.
