I'm so excited about my guest and friend on “I’m a Millionaire! So Now What?”, Dr. Jordin Wiggins, otherwise known as Dr. J.

Jordin is a naturopathic doctor, an entrepreneur, and women's sexual health disrupter. She is revolutionizing the way we deliver, educate, and talk about women's health and pleasure, in particular, women's sexual health and pleasure. As the author of the book, The Pink Canary, Dr. Jordin has unlocked the hidden secret to optimal wellness and the real-life ways you can welcome pleasure back into your life, work, and relationships. And certainly, under COVID conditions, we can all use a little more joy in our day.

In this episode, we dive into the ways she is disrupting her industry.

Her journey to naturopathy

“I had depression in my pre-med degree, which was actually a hormone imbalance, and brought on by stress. And I'm sure anyone that has been through an extremely stressful situation or stress during life transitions, like having a baby, perimenopause, and menopause, knows that it can really change our mindset and our mood. I went into naturopathic medicine because I didn't want anyone to feel as alone as I did on that journey. Naturopathic medicine allows us to look outside of the box, test outside of the box, and get answers – even if it means sending a sample of my patient’s blood to a lab in Germany, or California.”

A brick and mortar beginning

After a brief stint as an employee, Jordin decided to become a business owner.  However, she faced serious challenges including crippling student debt and lack of funding for post-graduates all the while trying to pay off contractors without a space to work in yet.  Despite this, she opened an integrative medical clinic in October 2015 that now has revenues that any business owner would be happy with.

“I remember when I got my tax return, I made like $27,000 that first year. I was so happy to be in the positive after outlaying all that money as a startup. And I worked and worked and worked and I don't know how else I would have done it. But if there was a speaking opportunity, or I would stay late to see an extra patient, I just did it. And it was not a balanced lifestyle. I didn't see my family and friends, my own exercise, self-care slipped in those first few years for sure.”

How Covid helped her niche down and 10x her revenue

“The clients that I work with now are very successful, driven, Type A women that are either self-employed, CEOs, or the mom bosses at home that really run things, but they're lacking something. They're lacking joy, they're lacking an intimate connection with their partner. When we’re so over scheduled, we do everything for everyone –we put ourselves last on the to-do list, and we're constantly self-sacrificing – we lose touch with ourselves and what motivates us.

Even when I give people recommendations of what to do, when I give them bioidentical hormones or a supplement or a way to eat that is going to be good for their bodies, there was no follow-through because they couldn't prioritize themselves. So, I've niched down even more into the women that I serve – they basically have it together everywhere but the bedroom.”

When Jordin launched her book, the Pink Canary, it was right at the beginning of lockdown, and she had to shut the doors to the clinic for a few weeks. For some entrepreneurs, this might have been paralyzing. For Jordin, it helped her get clear on her audience and how she could help them.

I’d always been wanting to do educational programs online, because I can reach more women that way. COVID gave me the opportunity to pause for a minute, create the programs and figure out a way to deliver them in a very scalable way. I ended up offering better care, faster outcomes and increased my reach – to women that are not just within driving distance of my clinic.” Through this, she actually 10x’d her revenue!

Developing The Pleasure Principles

Jordin recently started her Pleasure Principles Podcast, named after the signature 12-week Pleasure Principles program she created for women to help them get in touch with their bodies, how they work and how to communicate with their partners.

“One in two women suffer from sexual dysfunction in their lifetime,” she shared, “so we need a sexual health re-education about our own bodies. When we lose that connection to self, and what makes us happy and grounded and present, we're not our best in any area, we are exhausted and self-critical.”

“It makes me feel warm and fuzzy just talking about the work that I get to do with women. And it's two streams. There's women that really have hormone imbalances, inflammation, digestive issues, autoimmune issues going on, so we need to get those (health issues) out of the way to work on the mindset piece. Or there's women that are so stuck with their mindset, they're so burnt out that they come home, eat a bag of chips, drink a bottle of wine – and using these numbing behaviours gets in the way of health. So, we’ll start with mindset so that we can work with health, but it's cyclical.”

Her big, hairy, audacious goal?

“I would love to reverse sexual dysfunction for women, because 50% of women globally have that issue. And there is no other medical issue that affects 50% of women. I believe that when women are disconnected from their sexuality, that which makes them most feminine, from their shame and all these other things around it, we're disconnected from our power, from speaking up and asking for the raise or the promotion, or starting our own business.”
