Last week, I was invited to ZOOM (a virtual video meeting) into a meeting with David Goetsch. Who is David Goetsch? He is a TV Producer and Writer and his claim to fame… he was an Executive Producer of The Big Bang Theory.

I heard him speak a few years ago (2016) at a Dimensional Fund Advisor symposium. I wrote about that encounter: Dave Goetsch’s Big Bang Theory for Investing. In my blog post, I further referenced a blog post, Now and Then, where he shared his experience navigating the 2007-2009 financial crisis and how his perspective on investing had changed. Given the calamity of the day, he went back to the keyboard publishing an Op-Ed on CNBC:  ‘Big Bang Theory’ producer’s investment philosophy helps him through the crisis.

Why should you care about what some Hollywood writer/producer has to say?? Frankly, you might not care. And that is just fine.

For me, hearing him speak of his worry:

  • the fragility of his current pilot aka his next pay cheque,
  • the concern for the health of his family (young children), &
  • the loneliness of physical distancing & isolation

it made me (really) realize that no matter one’s socio economic status;  no one is immune to the crisis of the moment. We are all worried. And, yet, there is hope. (I encourage you to read the Op-Ed).
