If you’ve met me, you may have noticed I have a trinity knot tattooed on my left wrist. I like to think of it as permanent jewelry. You may have also noticed that the trinity knot pops up on some of my marketing material, personalized stationary and presentations.
In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday March 17th, here’s my response to…. What’s that all about?
The trinity knot is a nod to my Celtic heritage. Celtic knots have no beginning and no end. The two shapes, intertwined, loop and circle eternally. The symbol is so old that the history is hard to pin down, but from my understanding Christians interpret the three points on the knot as representing Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It’s thought that pagans considered the three arcs to be earth, air, and water; earth, sea, and sky; even earth, fire and water. From a yogi standpoint, I’ve also heard the three arcs represent the mind, body, and soul.
So what does this have to do with wealth management?
Well as I see it, all aspects of wealth are interconnected – retirement saving, retirement spending, education savings & spending, estate planning, charitable giving, setting up a business, getting married, separating or divorcing, losing a job, taking on a new career & career transition, buying a house, selling a house, receiving an inheritance, losing a significant other... All these life events are interconnected and have financial impacts that go on for generations.
And, from a wealth management standpoint, I’m attuned to this important trio: Spend, Save, and Share.
The Trinity Knot has several layers of meaning for me and fits well with my motto for my business: Empowering clients to Spend, Save, and Share wealth with confidence.
It’s a small piece of permanent jewelry I’m happy to wear around. Is there a symbol that’s particularly significant in your life? (It doesn’t have to be something you’d tattoo on your wrist!) Is there a symbol that represents your ancestry or outlook? I’d love to know! Tell me in a comment through our Contact Us page or email me directly.
