Celebrate Yourself

Every year since 2010, I have hosted a Ladies Valentine’s Day Tea for my clients, my professional contacts and their friends. It was an idea that had been percolating since I set up shop as an advisor in 2001.

I wanted to create an opportunity to connect with clients on a day that’s often weighed down with romantic expectations. An event that, no matter their relationship status, would help us all face this Hallmark day head on.

Over the years we’ve learned from a range of special guests: image consultants, interior designers… even a Libido Consultant.

This year, like every year, we are ‘sold out’. The room has a wonderful energy, bubbling with conversation and laughter. New friendships & professional contacts grow out of the event.

This year our theme is: Celebrate Yourself, with guest speaker Diana Eskander, Love Coach.

Diana helps her clients create a vision of their ideal relationship and then make it reality. Find out more about Diana’s work here.

We’ll serve tea, coffee and light snacks while Diana explores the idea of self-love and why it’s so important to love yourself. (I’m really looking forward to this!)

We hear so much about self-care and using a positive internal voice. But self-care doesn’t have to mean spa days and out-of-the country retreats. Although if you plan for these, they can be a nice treat.

Self-care can be much simpler.

Start by being kind to yourself. When you look in the mirror – smile. Take 5 minutes to enjoy your hot cup of tea or coffee – from the local coffee shop or from your kitchen kettle.

You might wonder: What does this have to do with wealth management and money management? Actually, a lot! It’s all about building self-confidence – confidence that will spill over into empowering spending, saving, and sharing attitudes about your wealth.

Money and wealth doesn’t have to be scary, secret, or agonizing. Taking care of your financials is an important part of taking care of yourself. A few good habits go a long way.

I’d love to know, what is your vision of self-love? What kinds of things do you say to yourself and do for yourself? And what kind of feelings does that create? Send your comments through our contact page.
