Investing can generally be defined as allocating resources — time, money, energy or effort — into something, with the goal to generate income or growth. Sometimes, this income or growth is called return on investment, or return for short.

When you invest your money, it has the potential to grow. There are many different types of investments, and some common examples include stocks, bonds, funds, guaranteed investment certificates (GICs), currency and real estate.

Investments have different associated risks, differing potential returns and can fluctuate up and down. Most investments will also have some type of fee, which is a cost to buy, sell or hold an investment.

Determining your investor profile and your tolerance for risk will help in identifying the most appropriate options as part of building your investment portfolio.

It’s important to be an informed consumer, to ask questions about your investments and to understand your investment options. For more information on investing, contact us today.
