Celebrating Five Years of Empowering Student Athletes!

As my wife and I reflect on the last five years of facilitating scholarships for student athletes through our program, we’re filled with immense gratitude and joy. It’s been a journey marked by inspiring moments and remarkable individuals, and this year was no exception.

 The Gift of Connection

This year, we had the privilege of meeting two exceptional female athletes and one outstanding male athlete. Each of them embodies the spirit of determination and excellence that our scholarships aim to support. But what made this year even more special was the involvement of our daughter, Patricia Elena Vastis.

As a first-year student at the University of Guelph, Patricia not only assisted us in this endeavor but also found three new friends in the process. Witnessing her engagement and growth has brought our efforts full circle, highlighting the true essence of these scholarships - connection and community.

 2023 Scholarship Recipients

It’s with great pride that we announce this year’s recipients:

1. Miles LaFoucade - Recipient of the Vastis the Fastest Scholarship. A third-year sport and event management student from Brampton, Ontario, Miles plays as a defensive back and exemplifies the tenacity and leadership we admire.

2. Katelyn Dance - One of the recipients of the Sotirea Vastis Women’s Grit Scholarship. As a first-year child studies student from Alymer, Katelyn shines on our women’s hockey team as a forward.

 A Continuum of Inspiration

We were also honored by the presence of Brooke Morton, a third-year student, previous scholarship recipient, and now a mentor to these young achievers. Her journey and contributions beautifully illustrate the lasting impact of these scholarships.

As we celebrate these remarkable individuals, we’re reminded of the power of education, sports, and community in shaping futures. We eagerly anticipate seeing Miles, Katelyn, Abigail, and Patricia flourish in their educational pursuits, relationships, and careers.

Here’s to many more years of nurturing talent and dreams!
