Kathy joined RBC Dominion Securities in July 2002 after the firm purchased the small Vancouver-based investment dealer where she was a principal. She has worked in the securities industry since 1996, managing Canadian and US equity, fixed income and money market portfolios, for both institutions and high net worth individuals. Kathy specializes in the needs of incorporated professionals. Her knowledge of the markets and her dedication to providing excellent customer service aid her in understanding and satisfying the requirements of her clients.
She believes in developing a trust with her clients that can only be achieved through a disciplined, consistent approach to investing that is based on sound fundamentals. Kathy prides herself at being proactive in ensuring that her clients find the right professional to help them with all of their financial needs. Kathy's experience as a Director and Compliance Officer within the industry demonstrates a strong level of integrity and honesty.
Prior to entering the securities industry, Kathy spent five years in Ottawa as an analyst specializing in Business, Trade and the National Economic and Financial Accounts. Kathy received her Master of Arts degree in Economics and Quantitative Statistics from McMaster University in 1990 and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from UBC in 1988. Kathy earned the Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation in 2012, and she believes strongly in further educating herself throughout her career.
Kathy is a native of the Vancouver area with a keen interest in sailboat racing, biking and skiing. Kathy's husband Jeff Buder is the CPGA Class A Professional. Kathy and Jeff have a daughter, Lily and a son, Finlay.
