With a solid background in financial services and general management, Darrel is a seasoned former independent businessman who founded his own residential real estate company — which he successfully operated and then sold — right out of college. Subsequently he founded a successful human resources company, before venturing into banking.
With the Royal Bank Financial Group for over twenty years, he has held leadership roles in commercial, agricultural, retail and investment banking.
Darrel has a Personal Financial Planning (PFP) designation, along with a Human Resources Certificate, General Management Diploma. Insurance licensed, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers (FICB).
Through his vast network of internal RBC Dominion Securities Inc. relationships, Darrel offers his clients seamless access to several wealth management services, including financial and business succession planning, estate and insurance planning strategies.
A past director of several provincial sports organizations (notably baseball), Darrel has held several civic volunteer positions in recreation and economic development. He is a member of Rotary International and is an enthusiastic community volunteer.
Darrel enjoys family, fitness, backcountry hiking, music, the arts and travel. His objective is to live as active a life as possible and have a financial strategy in place that gives him the means to do so. This is the same philosophy he applies when assisting his clients.
