With a solid background in financial services and general management, Darrel is a seasoned former independent businessman who founded his own residential real estate company — which he successfully operated and then sold — right out of college. Subsequently he founded a successful human resources company, before venturing into banking.

With the Royal Bank Financial Group for over twenty years, he has held leadership roles in commercial, agricultural, retail and investment banking.

Darrel has a Personal Financial Planning (PFP) designation, along with a Human Resources Certificate, General Management Diploma. Insurance licensed, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers (FICB).

Through his vast network of internal RBC Dominion Securities Inc. relationships, Darrel offers his clients seamless access to several wealth management services, including financial and business succession planning, estate and insurance planning strategies.

A past director of several provincial sports organizations (notably baseball), Darrel has held several civic volunteer positions in recreation and economic development. He is a current director and a past charter president with Rotary International and is an enthusiastic community volunteer.

Darrel enjoys family, fitness, backcountry hiking, music, the arts and travel. His objective is to live as active a life as possible and have a financial strategy in place that gives him the means to do so. This is the same philosophy he applies when assisting his clients.

A specialist in his field who has earned the Chartered Life Underwriter, Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Financial Consultant designations, Gord began his career in the insurance industry in 1982.

For more complicated situations, he works — as necessary — with your other professional advisors to develop appropriate solutions.

Having begun his career in the financial services industry in 2003, Denny has a range of experience working in both sales and management positions. He prides himself on fostering high trust relationships and matching client goals with ideal solutions. Specializing in working with families, professionals and business owner clients, including extensive work with physicians, Denny offers unique and customized life and living benefits insurance based solutions to meet you needs.

Denny Obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree (2005) from the University of Alberta, Alberta School of Business and plans to continue his studies to obtain the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in 2016. He is also an active member of ADVOCIS, The Financial Advisors Association of Canada which is the oldest and largest voluntary professional membership association of financial advisors and planners in Canada, where he previously held a 5 year board member position for the Edmonton Chapter.

Denny lives in St. Albert, located just outside Edmonton with his wife and two children. He is very active in community organizations and volunteers numerous hours through the year with a variety of fundraising initiatives that focus on eradicating illness, health and well-being. 

Norm Eaton

Director, Mid-Markets M&A

Norm has eleven years of corporate finance experience. He has diverse finance and transaction experience as the CFO of two Edmonton-based public companies and as an M&A advisor at a national accounting firm. Norm spent the last seven years with MNP Corporate Finance serving privately held businesses in Western Canada. He holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Victoria.

Norm is based in Calgary and covers Mid-Market M&A in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba

Florence Smith, CPA, CGA, CPA (Vermont USA)

Financial Planning Specialist

Florence is both a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA,CGA) and a U.S. Certified Public Accountant (CPA, Vermont USA). She has over 20 years of tax experience including 6 years as a tax practitioner at one of the leading international public accounting firms.

Prior to joining RBC, her role as a manager in the cross-border tax group included Canadian and U.S. personal tax planning and preparation for a variety of individuals including high-net worth, U.S. citizens resident in Canada, and Canadians owning U.S. properties. She also provided tax planning consultations for employees of private Canadian corporations working or transferring cross-border. Additionally, her prior career experience involved Canadian corporate and trust tax planning and preparation services.

As a Financial Planning Specialist, Florence’s role is to work with and support your RBC advisor in preparing and presenting your Compass Financial Plan and to identify and assess any related financial tax and retirement planning concerns you may have.

Avideh Parent, B.A. (High Honors), LL.B

Will & Estate Consultant

Avideh Musgrave is an experienced lawyer with a strong commitment to educating people on the importance of estate and legacy planning. She received her undergraduate degree from Carleton University and went to Law School at the University of Alberta. In 2001 she was called to the Alberta Bar and, prior to joining RBC, devoted her law practice to Wills, Estate Planning, and Estate Administration.

An accomplished public speaker, Avideh is a frequent presenter on Wills and Estates issues for organizations such as the Legal Education Society of Alberta, the City of Edmonton, and the Edmonton Community Foundation. She also has been featured on Global TV, Shaw TV, and various financial education websites.

Avideh received her undergraduate degree from Carleton University and went to Law School at the University of Alberta. In 2001 she was called to the Alberta Bar and prior to joining RBC, devoted her law practice to Wills, Estate Planning, and Estate Administration. 

Coady Cormier, B.B.A. (Finance), LL.B., TEP

Vice President, High Net Worth Planning Services

Coady has assisted high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families with tax and estate planning since 1992. His guidance supports clients in their relationship with external professional advisors, with whom he frequently interacts. His expertise includes tax and estate planning for executives, business owners, professionals, retirees and those individuals with U.S. issues.

Coady's background includes the CICA In-Depth Tax Course (Parts I, II, and III), a law degree from Dalhousie Law School and a finance degree from Bishop's University. Called to the Ontario Bar in 1992 and the Alberta Bar in 1998, Coady honed his expertise as a tax, legal and estate professional in private practice, in government and while with a trust company.

Coady is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Canadian Bar Association (Southern Alberta Branch, Tax Specialist and Wills Sections) and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (Canadian Chapter, Calgary Branch.) He holds a Full Life Insurance License in Alberta. 

Coady works closely with your RBC advisor to identify strategies and solutions on structuring your affairs in a manner that addresses your overall wealth planning needs, which you would then discuss and implement with your accountant or lawyer.
