Dan joined RBC Dominion Securities in 2005 after earning his Bachelor of Commerce degree (with Great Distinction) from the University of Saskatchewan with majors in both accounting and finance. He holds the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) and the prestigious Fellow of CSI (FCSI) designations from the Canadian Securities Institute.
Dan was born and raised in Saskatoon. He and his wife Dana have three daughters: Mckinley, Capri, and Maisie. Dan is a graduate of the Western Hockey League, having spent four seasons with the Swift Current Broncos and Portland Winterhawks, before becoming an All-Canadian defenseman with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. A draft pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 1998, Dan was also the Canadian Hockey League's Scholastic Player of the Year in 2001. Fun fact - Connor McDavid later won that same award! He was also the recipient of the WHL Alumni Achievement Award in 2009, and named the University of Saskatchewan Men’s Huskie Hockey Award Of Recognition winner in 2018.
Dan continuously gives back to the community through various fundraisers and volunteer activities. Dan dedicates countless hours to coaching minor hockey and currently sits on the executive committees of the Off the Leash Luncheon, the Men's Huskie Hockey Alumni, and the University of Saskatchewan’s Men's Hockey Excellence Fund. Dan has previously sat on the executive committees of the Home Ice Campaign, CIS University Cup, and RBC Dominion Securities National Advisory Board. Dan also enjoys golf, bowling, skiing, the NFL, and travelling.
