Scott was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan and graduated from the University of Regina in 1993 with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a bachelor of Physical Activity. He began his career at RBC Dominion Securities in 1993 in North Vancouver. Scott and his wife Treena relocated to Vancouver Island in 1995. In the spring of 1995, Scott established a new RBC Dominion Securities office in Campbell River.
Scott stays involved with community events - he has played an active role as a major sponsor with the Rod Brind'Amour Cystic Fibrosis Golf Tournament since 1995 that has helped raise over $1,500,000 over the past 25 years.
