Samuel Gorenstein, CIM, MBA

Growing up in an entrepreneurial family and working alongside his father, Samuel noticed how much his family struggled to develop and manage their financial portfolio. This provided him with a very unique approach to wealth management and the desire to devote his career to helping individuals create and maintain portfolios that can ensure financial security, and also remove the burden of financial planning.

Because of his family’s background of being owners, Samuel has extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in building and running a successful business. In every family, the situations are not always the same, but every family needs someone to put that roadmap together so that we can synergize and create long term harmony.

This insight has allowed him to better understand how to help business owners build wealth, minimize taxation, and implement key strategies that can convert a prosperous business into a financially rewarding retirement.

Samuel applies this comprehensive wealth management philosophy to all his clients including individual investors, families, business owners, and organizations. They appreciate his in-depth approach, cohesive strategies, and caring manner.

Samuel graduated from the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He received a Masters of Business Administration from the Frank G. Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University in Long Island, New York. Prior to joining RBC Dominion Securities, Samuel was a Commercial Banker with another leading Canadian bank.

Samuel was recently awarded the “Presidents Club Circle “, as the top performing young advisor at the Dominion Securities. He has maintained the “Presidents Club Circle” every year. On a personal side, Samuel resides in midtown Toronto with his wife, Jennifer and their two children. He is an active squash and tennis player.

Fernando Torrealba, CFA, Hon. B.A.
Associate -

As the Associate, Fernando provides administrative, operational, and customer service support to our clients. He joined the team in March of 2017, prior to which he had worked at the Royal Bank Plaza office of RBC Dominion Securities since November of 2015.

Before RBC, Fernando worked as a Consultant at a large Canadian financial planning firm starting in January of 2013.

Fernando graduated with a B.A. with Honours from the University of Toronto in 2012. He has also passed all three levels of the CFA program.

Jung-Hee Kim, MBA, MTax
Financial Planning Consultant

Jung-Hee obtained her Honours Bachelor degree in Economics from the University of Toronto, followed by her Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Schulich School of Business, York University.

After working in the industry for over 10 years, Jung-Hee returned to school full time for further education and completed her Master of Taxation (MTax) degree at the University of Waterloo.

Prior to joining RBC, Jung-Hee worked at a Big 4 public accounting firm in Toronto as a tax manager in the High Net Worth Tax Services group. She is currently pursuing her Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Canada.

Ariel-Charles Guigui, B.ADM., LL.B., TEP
Vice President and Will & Estate Consultant

Ariel is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (TEP). Prior to joining RBC, Ariel spent 5 years teaching Real Estate Law and Estate Law in Ottawa.

For the previous 12 years, Ariel held several positions at a major trust company, culminating in the role of Trust Manager.

Ariel graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Business Administration (B.ADM.) and Law degree (LL.B).

Ariel works closely with your advisor to provide you with information on structuring your estate in an efficient and tax-effective manner.

James Wong, CPA, CA, CBV
Vice President, High Net Worth Planning Services

As a Vice President, High Net Worth Planning Services, James, together with your primary RBC advisor, helps you explore succession, tax,retirement and estate planning issues you face as a high-net-worth client.

James spent the majority of his career in various capacities advising owners of privately held businesses. Prior to joining RBC, he spent 12 years at another major national financial institution as the Vice President of Succession Planning. In that role, James developed several best practices around succession planning that take into account the unique culture of Canadian family businesses.

Many of these practices are shared in the book he co-authored,“The Transition Experience – What every Canadian family business owner should know beyond succession planning”,released in December 2011.

James is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Business Valuator and is a frequent presenter on business succession planning. He obtained his degree, Masters of Commerce from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand.

Andrew Sipes

Andrew loves the insurance business; it’s not the products, it’s the opportunity to learn about you. Learning about people, their families, about their lives as a whole and how insurance may help you to reach your most cherished goals. That accounts for Andrew’s core purpose: To focus on people and provide the optimal solution for their unique circumstances.

Fundamentally, Andrew is an educator. He says, “If I hadn’t chosen the insurance business I would probably be a teacher. As an Estate Planning Specialist, my role is to educate clients on which situations these products are for, and how you make them work.” It is not about the sale. It’s about helping people discover an insurance solution that works for them, if any. It’s always about - people not product.

Andrew has been an Estate Planning Specialist since 1993. He lives in Toronto with his wife, daughter and their dog, Bob. An amateur boxer until 1992, he was the Ontario middleweight champion. Now he’s an avid squash player and fisherman.
