Born in Vancouver, Philip grew up in the tiny pulp mill community of Port Alice on the Northern tip of Vancouver Island. After graduating from the University of Victoria in 1986, where he earned his economics degree, he moved back to Vancouver. There, while he completed several financial industry courses, he worked as a floor trader at the stock exchange, which provided him with three invaluable years of experience.
With his knowledge and these credentials in hand, in the fall of 1990, Philip joined the Vancouver Park Place office of RBC Dominion Securities as an Investment Advisor. Since then he has continued to further his education and knowledge by earning various industry credentials and professional qualifications, including the highly acclaimed Certified Investment Manager (CIM) designation.
With a genuine passion for helping people invest and manage their hard-earned savings, Philip has purposely and carefully built a loyal clientele of affluent individuals and families; serious-minded people who share his conservative investment philosophy and respect his investment style. He specializes in designing and monitoring investment plans for high net worth clients with portfolios exceeding $1,000,000.
Beyond work, Philip is a strong believer in a balanced lifestyle, and to this end, he participates in a regular fitness routine, and is a big fan of fine dining and good red wine. He is also a middling golfer, a traveller, and an amateur abstract painter. Philip contributes regularly to the Saint Paul’s Foundation, and also enjoys supporting our community through mentoring.
