It’s important that our clients know just how important they are to us, and we show it in our responsiveness, adaptability, and proactive solutions. As we like to say, family comes first but our clients are a very, very close second.
Senior Portfolio Manager & Investment Advisor
Stepping into Perry’s office, you’d think he ran a bookstore, building clients’ wealth on the side. Multiple copies of self-help, literary classics, finance fundamentals, and children’s novels are spread across a table for clients to take, because “some of the best investments we’ve made have been in educating and empowering our clients.”
For Perry, it all began with a blended love of psychology and finance; attending Concordia University, he graduated with a business degree and quickly started his first role in the industry as a financial planner. For several years, Perry provided tailored wealth solutions and plans for his clients at a major Canadian financial institution. His next role was on the investment side of the industry, where we worked as a Researcher, Portfolio Analyst, Director, and Sr. Portfolio Manager for 10 years in the Private Banking division of another large financial institution. It was then when Perry earned the CFA – the most rigorous designation in financial analysis – and a diploma in financial planning from the Institute Québécois de Planification financière (IQPF).
With over 20 years of wealth management and investment industry experience, Perry now leads a passionate team – The Perry Shak Group of RBC Dominion Securities – with a focus on developing deep relationships with his clients, customizing their investment portfolios to best meet their income and capital preservation needs, tax efficiently, and delivering proactive wealth strategies ranging from estate planning to charitable giving solutions.
Paying it forward is incredibly important to Perry and his answer to “why do you do what you do?” The importance of understanding, empathy, and hard work was instilled at an early age when Perry, growing up in Montreal, and his mom were recipients of community support that played an integral role in helping him along his path. Today, Perry feels fortunate to be in a place where he can give back, to the community, his clients, and his team.

Always fascinated with the world of wealth, in particular, how financial planning and investment strategy complement to enhance a client’s situation – Raluca began her career in banking. Today, she co-ensures the excellent experience clients have come to expect from The Perry Shak Group, including coordinating wealth management experts from a variety of specializations as well as with clients’ lawyers and accountants, following up on priority items, assisting with trade execution, and responding to clients’ time-sensitive needs.
Raluca graduated from Romanian-American University with a Bachelor of Commerce and has completed several wealth management courses, most notably, a diploma in financial planning from the Institute Québécois de Planification financière.
