My team and I were proud to sponsor and volunteer at the 18th Annual Strides for Stroke, hosted by the North Shore Stroke Recovery Centre (NSSRC). It’s an honor to be part of this powerful event that celebrates resilience, community, and hope.

As a summer intern, this was my first time attending Strides for Stroke, and the experience was incredibly moving. I was inspired by the stories shared by stroke survivors, who have faced life-changing challenges, shown remarkable strength in their recovery, and persevered with resilience. I was equally moved by the stories of caregivers, whose daily support, encouragement, and love play such a vital role in the recovery journey.
One story that stood out to me was from a man who shared how his best friend had suffered a stroke. His best friend’s wife became his primary caregiver, and every Wednesday, this man would step in to give her a much-needed break, spending the day caring for his friend. It was a powerful reminder that the effects of a stroke extend far beyond the individual, impacting their entire circle of family and friends. It showed me that recovery is not just a personal journey but is a community effort.

For over 50 years, NSSRC has worked to create a community without barriers for stroke survivors through accessible programming, peer support, and healthcare partnerships. Strides for Stroke is a reflection of that mission – an uplifting, powerful celebration that reminds us of all of the power of unity and perseverance.
I’m grateful to be part of such meaningful work and look forward to continuing my support in the years ahead!
