First time flying Harbour Air – we were all so excited!
Ever since I joined the Pamela Yoon Group in 2023, I realized learning opportunities are everywhere. Learning does not only apply to industry knowledge. It is not just about “buying low, selling high.” It is not only about getting the documents approved or moving money around. We need to be intentional. I learned so much from each one of my teammates on daily basis. I learned to observe from different perspectives, solve problems together from different angles. I learned from our agreements and disagreements. I learned from celebrating together AND navigating downhills together. In my 13 years of industry experience, I can confidently say that the Pamela Yoon Group is unique. Our clients who have been witnessing our growth over the past 30 years would agree with me.

Our team is kind in spirit, smart in action, and hardworking in everything we do. (It is easy to find people with two of these qualities, but we bring all three). In Japanese, there is a saying: kekka yori katei — the process matters more than the result. In this competitive, high-stress, and highly dynamic industry, we have the luxury to create a journey that is somehow, enjoyable.

Pam took us to the peaceful Salt Spring Island for our 2025 Team Retreat. We had the opportunity for team- and self-reflection. How can we do more for our clients, and expand capacity to help more people? How can we grow not just individually but thrive together? How can we support each other? How do we adapt and evolve when facing uncertainty? We identified our individual strengths and how to succeed as one team. We also realized how our uniqueness - diversity and adaptability - define our team culture and our investment strategies. We all crave for challenges and eager to find a solution to every problem. We are problem solvers. We are therapists. We are your friends who will always be here for you through the challenging times. We listen to your stories, and we are inspired by them.
We care.

Working on urgent projects together in the cottage was fun.
While enjoying refreshing craft beer at the niche Salt Spring Brewing Company (niche because we were drinking in a nourishing forest setting, and it felt like I was drinking kombucha while birdwatching), we each shared three things for which we are grateful. Of course, I became emotional. It was heart-touching to see everyone sharing our most genuine feedback and to know that nobody takes this unique team for granted.

We had a relaxing yet fulfilling retreat. Somehow the trip felt much longer than 3 days! Hopefully, we will have the luxury to make this an annual tradition (thank you Pam!). And thank you, our clients, for giving us space to scale back for this unforgettable trip.
