Right now I’m reading… Anam Cara by the Irish poet John O’Donahue.
My favorite sport is…I don’t (really) watch sports and I don’t participate in team sports. I tend to prefer physical activities that are solo in nature, like dance, hikes, walks, weightlifting etc but since I am relationship with a man who was a former CFL champion, I now will enthusiastically watch a championship football game!
My most worn item of clothing is…My pajamas.
The best restaurant I’ve dined at this year is…Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in London. It’s a 2 Michelin star that takes British cuisine to a whole new level. Imagine taking very traditional British recipes from the 1500’s to the 1700’s to more recently the 1940’s, like meat fruit (circa 1500), hay smoked salmon (circa 1730), hereford beef (circa 1830) and tipsy cake (circa 1858) - and presenting those dishes in the most inventive modern way with some touches of molecular gastronomy.
My go-to cocktail is…Hands-down a classic gin martini. Monkey 47 gin from the German black forest. Bone dry with just a touch of vermouth. Stirred 50 revolutions with a twist.

The craziest market prediction that I nailed was…Take my cash pile and buy equities in July 2022
The one thing worth staying up late for is…Dance all night!
A company that I am currently looking at…L’Oréal
The first stock I ever invested in was…Delrina - it was a small cap garbage company….my investment didn’t turn out very well. I learnt a lot about investing when I was in my twenties. Those mistakes with my own hard-earned money makes me the investor that I am today.
If I have a family in town I’ll take them to…Rodney’s Oyster House for freshly shucked oysters by the dozen.
A perfect Sunday is spent…Sleep-in, a long leisurely brunch, a nice long bath soak, a long walk at the beach or forest.
The one thing that keeps me passionate about my job is…Making a difference in our clients’ financial lives, being the family’s trusted advisor that they can lean-on in good and bad times. Seeing how the fruits of my work not just benefits our clients lifestyle but those lifestyles that they support (their family and their communities). My deepest passion is researching investment ideas and seeing my investment thesis play out brilliantly.
How I would describe my investment philosophy…Have an open mind, cast a wide net, dig deep. Be a contrarian, do not follow the crowds.
The one talent that I have that no one knows about…Well if I tell you that then it won’t be a secret anymore, right? I am a self-taught chef, and I am also a self-taught seamstress. If I have time I can sew my entire wardrobe.

When I’m not working you’ll find me…Walking Spanish Banks at low tide, hiking the northshore mountains in my backyard, cooking a fancy meal from scratch, traveling (I’ve traveled to 33 countries), scuba diving, or spending time with my love either here in Vancouver or in Winnipeg.
Happy Thanksgiving from The Pamela Yoon Group!
