How the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs Could Kickstart a Wave of Change

It has now been more than 6 months since it became clear the COVID-19 was going to fundamentally disrupt our lives.  Starting with sudden lockdowns in March, we have come through a lot of uncertainty, and it feels like we are reaching the point where we are entering the reality phase.  We now understand the disease and how to manage it better than we did in March, and we also understand what the social and economic impacts are of dealing with it.

While we rightly looked to governments for financial programs to support individuals and businesses during the initial phase of the pandemic, it is clear that this support cannot continue indefinitely.  As this government support winds down, we will need to work to adapt our economy to a post COVID-19 world so that we can come out of the pandemic as strong as we were before.  Some of these changes are already being made by existing businesses as they migrate to the digital world, but it is also important that we look for new opportunities to innovate and create industries and jobs to replace those that may have been lost in the last few months.

In the latest RBC Disruptors podcast, RBC's John Stackhouse interviews three young entrepreneurs who are working on innovative solutions to existing problems.  In a time when so much of the news is negative, hearing them speak with optimism and enthusiasm about the prospects for their individual businesses and for society as a whole is very refreshing.  I hope you will have a chance to listen to their perspective when you have some time.

Take Care,
