Some common sense advice on weathering a possible global recession

As we settle into the second half of 2020, it is clear that the global economy is in a very fragile state.  So far the economic shock of the pandemic has been lessened through unprecedented government interventions such as the CERB program in Canada.  However, with an effective vaccine still some time away, we may yet reach the limits of the economic support that governments are able to provide.  While there is probably no reason for panic, now may be a good time for us all to review our finances to make sure we are ready to weather some lean times should they come.

In this recent CBC article, Roderick Deon, 99, and Frances Deon, 91, offer their advice for facing a global recession.  Rather than being a story of hardship, their advice is about making the most of what you have and working with your community to ensure that everyone is taken care of.  I hope you have a chance to read their story, I think you'll agree that it is sound advice regardless of what is happening with the economy.

Take Care,

Mike
