Climate change: Changing the Investment Climate

These days, as I listen to the leaders of successful businesses speak it becomes evident that having a climate change strategy that can be clearly articulated is now a requirement not an option. In the future, I expect that those businesses that are forward looking and can demonstrate their preparedness to deal with the challenges posed by climate change will be rewarded by investors. This willingness and ability of a business to plan for an uncertain future is one of a number of factors that we have in mind when determining the value of that business, and the price which you as an investor should be willing to pay for their stock.

With this in mind, I thought it would be timely to highlight an article recently published by RBC that looks at the ways in which climate change is impacting the investing landscape.  In, "Climate change: Changing the Investment Climate," our Global Portfolio Advisory Committee takes a look at some of the issues surrounding climate change that could impact investment returns in the coming years. In addition to some challenges, we also see opportunities for existing companies to innovate and for new industries to be created, both of which should provide opportunities for investors.

As always, if you have any questions please give me a call or send me an email.

Take Care,

Mike
