My "Elevator Speech"

Hello and Happy Spring!

For the longest time, business coaches have recommended that we all perfect our "elevator speech."  That means coming up with a compelling description of what we do and why we do it that can be delivered in the amount of time we might spend with someone on an elevator.  Well, after 35 years of thought and experience here is mine:

"My job is to understand my client's long term goals and objectives, and to articulate those goals and objectives through a written financial plan.  Through a thorough understanding of their goals and objectives I set an appropriate asset allocation, and manage that asset allocation through various market cycles."

While it can be difficult sometimes to ignore all of the short term noise around investments as various media and pundits compete for our attention, my many years of experience throughout a number of market cycles tells me that the investors who have a plan and stick with it over the long-term are the ones who will succeed.  I maintain that patience, perspective, and discipline are of significant importance in navigating the investment landscape.  If you have time to review our article Staying the Course, you can see some of the benefits of maintaining your investment discipline and strategy over time.

As always, if you have any questions or would like to discuss this further please give me a call.

Take Care,

Mike
