Senior Portfolio Manager & Wealth Advisor
Michael entered the financial business in 1994 while studying Commerce at Saint Mary’s University. "My first real job outside of my family business was as a part-time Teller for the Royal Bank of Canada. It was a great way to learn the business from the ground up.”
After graduating, Michael pursued a career with RBC. He has worked in various positions and communities in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. "My desire to help people and my love of the investment business led me to pursue the Personal Financial Planning designation. The time I spent working as a Financial Planner in RBC branches has given me invaluable experience.” Michael spent several years as an award-winning Financial Planner at the Spring Garden Road branch of RBC in Halifax. Michael now runs a wealth management practice from the RBC Dominion Securities office at Purdy’s Wharf on the Halifax waterfront.
Michael is dedicated to continuing professional education. "This business is always changing and requires a commitment to keeping up to date in order to provide my clients with innovative investment strategies. My position and my clients require me to be informed.” In addition to the Personal Financial Planning (PFP) designation, Michael also holds the Trust and Estate Practitioners (TEP) designation from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and an MBA from Dalhousie University.
As an accomplished advisor, Michael works with both public and private investors who require a premium level of expertise and experience in investment management and financial planning. His practice is designed around using proven investment strategies and providing comprehensive wealth management services to a limited number of qualified clients. Through a specialized clientele, Michael can focus his time and effort on developing creative wealth management strategies for their specific needs.
Michael lives in Halifax and is actively involved in the community. When he isn’t in the office, Michael enjoys a maritime lifestyle with his family. Travelling Atlantic Canada together is one of their favourite activities.
