Rob Merchant has provided discretionary portfolio management to individuals, institutions and families for over 31 years. He studied at Dalhousie University and the Universite de Stendhal in Grenoble, France. Prior to joining RBC Dominion Securities he held senior positions with two major Canadian investment firms, qualifying for their highest achievement awards. Active in the community and during his professional career Rob has worked as Chair & Treasurer with a variety of charities. He currently sits on the Investment Committees of 2 non-profit organizations.
Rob lives in Halifax with his wife Jane. He has three adult children; Erik works as a Physiotherapist. Jack is an Engineer with a (Project Management) real estate company and his daughter Ellen, is a Real Estate agent. In his free time Rob enjoys alpine skiing & racing sailboats. He also enjoys spending time with his family at their cottage in East Chester, NS.
