As a formally trained research scientist (University of Guelph, University of Reading {UK}) and the author of numerous peer reviewed research papers and academic book chapters, Desmond possesses unique communication, quantitative and analytical skill-sets he has applied to the discipline of wealth management since 1994.
Communicating often complex investment topics in an easily understandable manner is one of Desmond's strengths: a skill he acquired from undergraduate and graduate student teaching, scientific conference presentations, investment seminars, and nearly 27 years of in-depth conversation with his private and institutional clients.
Dr. McCullough is a prospective Level 3 candidate in the highly coveted Chartered Financial Analyst program. He integrates global market financial information from the other members of the RBC Dominion Securities Wealth Management team, coupled with individual or corporate perspectives, to produce customized Investment Policy Statements (IPS) for each client.
Desmond is PIM licensed (Private Investment Management), taking advantage of the ability to have both discretionary and advisory relationships with the same client. This gives clients an advantage and the right choice for their investments.
Desmond is licensed to trade options and derivatives, and as a Life-Licensed Agent, he is qualified to advise clients on tax-deferral and complex estate planning strategies through the use of life insurance. Desmond holds the Canadian Investment Management (CIM) designation, and is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI).
Born and raised 14 miles east of Belfast in County Down N. Ireland, Desmond moved to Guelph Ontario in 1982. He is a dedicated follower of football (soccer), Formula 1 and more recently the joys of ballroom dancing. He golfs for the exercise only.
