Senior Portfolio Manager & Wealth Advisor
Kelly has successfully advised clients over the past 25 years, expertly navigating them through the ups and downs of the market including a tech bubble, a credit crisis, and a pandemic. A passionate financial educator, Kelly enjoys sharing his knowledge and empowering clients to reach their short and long-term financial goals. Day to day, as Senior Portfolio Manager and Wealth Advisor, Kelly leads our diversely skilled and experienced team of wealth specialists. He takes pride in taking on the responsibility of managing our clients’ hard-earned wealth, freeing them up to focus on their personal and family priorities and helping them make meaningful financial decisions throughout life.
A graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) degree in economics and finance, Kelly began his career at another leading financial institution before joining RBC to begin his practice. An early adopter of Private Investment Management, RBC’s premium investment service offering, Kelly has shown a dedicated commitment to improving his client offering by earning the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) and Certified International Wealth Manager (CIWM) designations. He was also named a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI), the highest honour and most senior credential in Canadian financial services.
Outside of work, Kelly enjoys spending time with his wife, Sandra, and their two children, Kristen and Cameron. He leads an active lifestyle and enjoys spending time skiing, golfing, and cycling, and looks forward to annual kayak and ski trips.
Associate Wealth Advisor & Financial Planner
Debi supports clients who find themselves at a financial crossroad. Always one to engage in meaningful conversations, Debi will uncover our clients’ unique circumstances, needs, and goals and methodically create a financial road map that leads to impactful outcomes.
Her all-encompassing approach and deep care for our clients’ overall well-being ensures no stone is left unturned, and she is skilled in advising on money management, retirement income planning, intergenerational wealth transfer, charitable giving, financial literacy, and more. It’s her aim to educate and empower clients to move forward with confidence while maximizing their overall wealth.
Debi grew up in the U.K. and was highly involved in her family business, learning the values of trust, reliability, and respect. She went on to earn a degree with a focus in economics and accounting, and shortly thereafter started her career at an accounting firm in West London. Debi’s strong sense of adventure and curiosity, cultivated from a young age, led her to immigrate to Canada, where she joined a leading financial institution. She served in various roles in personal banking and wealth management, earning the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation along the way. In 2016, Debi decided to focus on financial planning and joined our team.
Dedicated to work-life balance, Debi enjoys spending time with her husband, exploring nature, and maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle with her teaching certifications in fitness and yoga.
Associate Investment Advisor
Paul has been with RBC Dominion Securities for nearly 20 years, and has served as an associate investment advisor with Shorer Wealth Management since 2019. A graduate of McMaster University, Paul has also earned the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation and has a strong background in investment research and analysis.
As an expert in investment management and the markets, Paul is responsible for a wide range of investment activities, including the creation and maintenance of models, trade execution, rebalancing, and ensuring all client portfolios are aligned to their unique Investment Policy Statement. Paul truly enjoys seeing the tangible, positive effects his work has on the lives of our clients, and he views each new challenge as an opportunity to adapt our approach to our clients’ unique needs.
Outside of the office, Paul enjoys spending time with his wife, Susan, and his dog, Penny. As an active couple, they spend their time going for walks, cycling, camping, travelling, and playing billiards.
Senior Associate Advisor
Chan joined our team in 2018, bringing with her over 20 years of financial services experience at another leading financial institution. A graduate of Humber College’s Business Administration program, Chan has also shown a dedication to furthering her skills by earning the Financial Management Advisor (FMA) designation, and by completing the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and the Professional Financial Planning Course (PFPC).
As a senior associate advisor, Chan focuses primarily on ensuring our team delivers an exceptional client service experience, and assists our team with the client review process and financial planning activities. Bridging the gap between wealth management and client service, she prides herself on forming meaningful, long-term relationships with clients and delivering a consistent, trustworthy service they can count on.
In her spare time, Chan enjoys spending time with her family and taking her two young kids to their extra-curricular activities, woodworking, and gardening.
Associate
A graduate of the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, specializing in finance, Alex joined Shorer Wealth Management in 2018 and has quickly become an important part of our team. Prior to joining, he completed various co-op placements at other leading financial institutions and found a passion for client service and working alongside genuine, down-to-earth people.
As an associate and first point of contact, Alex leads the administrative functions of our business and also supports each team member in a variety of ways, from onboarding to trading and beyond. A natural problem solver, Alex prides himself on always being accessible to clients, listening to their needs, and going the extra mile to deliver strategic solutions in a timely manner. He has also completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and the Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH) Course.
Born and raised in Dundas, Ontario, Alex enjoys getting outdoors, playing golf, and is a massive fan of the Montreal Canadiens, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Formula 1.
