Joshua Kingsmill is a seasoned investment professional with over 20 years’ experience in the financial markets, focused on advising individuals and companies on their financial affairs. Following an undergraduate degree from Laval in Quebec City, and a graduate degree from the Sorbonne in Paris, and an MBA from University of Toronto’s Rothman School of Management, his past roles both here in Canada and London, England as both an investment banker and as a financial advisor provide his clients with a well-rounded perspective on their financial matters.
Ten years ago, making a move from Capital Markets to focus exclusively on an advisory role, he has been a Wealth Advisor and Portfolio Manager at RBC DS for the last six years. Joshua is known for his thoughtful approach to helping families and business owners address their financial needs. Working closely with his larger team at RBC DS of Financial Planners, Will & Estate lawyers, Tax experts, Legacy giving, Banking and lending, each of his clients has individually tailored investment advice. Joshua works with his team to ensure his clients are getting the best investment and planning advice at all times.
Joshua is also a holder of the Chartered Investment Manager designation and registered across Canada as a portfolio manager. As a Portfolio Manager, he has a fiduciary duty to act with care, honesty and good faith, always in the best interest of his clients. Bound by this strict code of ethics and fiduciary responsibility, it allows him to make investment decisions on behalf of clients, striving to optimize returns on investments, and, enables him to mitigate any risk quickly should it appear in a much more agile way without having to seek approval on every transaction.
As part of his commitment to keeping his clients informed, Joshua also authors a weekly financial column that focuses on providing some of his insights and timely takeaways from the financial markets while exploring different financial topics in a clear, concise manner.
Away from the office, Joshua is married, has three children, and volunteers as a Cub leader for his oldest son’s cub pack (paying it forward from his time as a Scouter growing up in Yellowknife, NWT). He is on the board of his local Tennis Club, the North Toronto Tennis Club in Lytton Park. He is an avid Golfer and Tennis Player, and Skies with his family at Caledon Ski Club, and tries to spend time at his Cottage in the summer with his family, in his increasingly less and less free time.
