As an Investment Counsellor with RBC PH&N Investment Counsel, Jonathan provides professional investment management focused on capital preservation and tax efficiency. He will meet with you to assess your financial goals and build a long-term investment portfolio that is customized to you and your family. Jonathan also employs a team of tax and estate specialists who will provide a long-term financial plan, help with estate planning, and identify strategies for making your financial affairs more tax-efficient. As a discretionary portfolio manager, Jonathan handles all the day-to-day management of your portfolio, allowing you to focus your time and attention on other areas.
Jonathan has more than 20 years' experience in the investment industry. Prior to joining RBC PH&N Investment Counsel, he was Vice President at Morningstar, a leading investment research firm. Originally from North Carolina, Jonathan attended the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a degree in theology and later a Masters of Business Administration in Finance. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Jonathan has appeared in various media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, Globe & Mail, New York Times, and CNBC. While with Morningstar, he managed the market-beating Tortoise and Hare portfolios and helped write The Five Rules for Successful Stock Investing, Morningstar's Guide to Building Wealth and Winning in the Market.
Jonathan lives in Halifax with his wife Moira and their three children, Isobel, Boyd and Ben. He is a member of the finance council at Good Shepherd Parish and also serves on the finance and investment (Chair) committees for the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth.
