Joyce Burnett graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island with a B.Sc. and from Dalhousie Law School with her Bachelor of Laws. She was called to the Alberta Bar in 1986.
Prior to joining RBC, Joyce practiced law exclusively in the areas of wills, estate planning, estate administration, trusts, and charities law for ten years. She has taught professional continuing education seminars for the Legal Education Society of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association.
Joyce is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the Canadian Bar Association Wills and Estates, and Elder Law Subsections. She has spoken at many public and private seminars on the importance of estate planning, including planning for incapacity and succession. She is a regular speaker during Edmonton Wills Week, sponsored by the Edmonton Community Foundation.
Joyce is also very active in her community where she has been involved with a number of charitable and non-profit organizations.
Florence is both a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CGA) and a U.S. Certified Public Accountant (CPA, Vermont USA). She has over 20 years of tax experience including 6 years as a tax practitioner at one of the leading international public accounting firms.
Prior to joining RBC, her role as a manager in the cross-border tax group included Canadian and U.S. personal tax planning and preparation for a variety of individuals including high-net-worth, U.S. citizens resident in Canada, and Canadians owning U.S. properties. She also provided tax planning consultations for employees of private Canadian corporations working or transferring cross-border. Additionally, her prior career experience involved Canadian corporate and trust tax planning and preparation services.
As a Financial Planning Specialist, Florence’s role is to work with and support your RBC advisor in preparing and presenting your Compass Financial Plan and to identify and assess any related financial, tax and retirement planning concerns you may have.
