John’s passion for investing and wealth creation drew him to a career in the financial services industry. He brings over 28 years of experience in global capital markets to his current role managing wealth for affluent families. Drawing on his extensive education and background, John personalizes investment and wealth strategies for each of his clients, devoting a high level of attention and care to each one.
John enjoys working closely with clients to uncover opportunities to build and protect wealth. His holistic approach to wealth management helps individuals, families, and business owners feel confident they are on track to achieve their financial goals. At the forefront of his strategies for those nearing retirement, or retirees, is minimizing taxes and safeguarding wealth.
Prior to joining RBC Dominion Securities, John managed a global team of derivative traders with a strong track record of risk management. With a career that began in capital markets in 1994, John has seen the phases of many business cycles. He has steered his team and portfolio through the turmoil seen notably in the global financial crisis of 2008 and most recently with the pandemic in 2020. John is adept at managing risk, particularly in periods of financial turmoil.
John’s keen interest in learning led him to pursue an extensive education, which includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and an Honors Business Administration Degree, both from the University of Western Ontario. John has also earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation as well as a Masters of Finance (MFin) from the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto. Most recently John earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation.
Away from work, John enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, and the family dog, Otis. He stays active playing golf and tennis, and is a supporter of the Hospital for Sick Children.
