This week, we’re excited to highlight Marnie Laing, a valued member of our team at Hymers Private Wealth. With a passion for the ocean and a lifelong dedication to learning, Marnie brings curiosity and depth to both her professional and personal life.

A Few of Marnie’s Favorites

Marnie is a fan of political dramas, with The West Wing and The Diplomat ranking as two of her favorite TV series.

When it comes to travel, she’s happiest when she’s near the water. A passionate scuba diver, she loves exploring the depths of the sea—especially off the coast of British Columbia, one of her favorite diving spots in the world. While she misses the sea, she enjoys diving in Lake Okanagan, including training with a dry suit to stay sharp in technical dive skills.

Here are a few fun facts about Marnie that might surprise you:

• Her Work in Marine Conservation – Before joining the financial world, Marnie spent years educating schools and island communities about marine environments. She even developed marine conservation programs and trained in technical diving with mixed gases, particularly in the clear waters of the Caribbean.
• A Dream Dinner Party – If she could share a meal with any historical figures, Marnie would invite Mark Twain and Mary Shelley. “It would be a fascinating evening of storytelling,” she says.
