As a team, we remember and honour the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. The tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process. While the day offers an opportunity for Canadians to honour and reflect on this painful and tragic history, we recognize that there is much work to do.
