Senior Portfolio Manager
Andrew graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Memorial University of Newfoundland and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario (Richard Ivey School of Business). A firm believer in ongoing education, Andrew is a Senior Portfolio Manager and holds the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) Designation.
Andrew began his career in 1998 with RBC Dominion Securities in the firm’s Generalist program, a two-year internship in which participants rotate through different areas of the firm. His other past roles with RBC include institutional equity sales in the U.S., an Equity Portfolio Advisor to other senior RBC Dominion Securities investment advisors, and Manager of RBC Capital Market's Canadian Equity Research Product. For five years, as part of the RBC Dominion Securities Strategy committee, Andrew was one of the few senior representatives of the firm who met regularly to debate investment outlooks and make official forecasts and recommendations for all of RBC's institutional and private clients. As part of this group, Andrew chaired the Equity Selection Sub-Committee, which was responsible for determining the quarterly RBC Dominion Securities Focus List portfolio of recommended stocks.
A proud Newfoundlander, Andrew regularly visits his parents, extended family and friends in his home province, and while there enjoys hiking the beautiful shoreline and playing music of all genres.
“When I’ve spent all day on the phone with clients, it’s been a good day,” says Julie, who has proudly built a successful career in the financial industry, grounded in client service and comprehensive support.
Julie has worked exclusively with private clients since 1987. She is a Senior Portfolio Manager and holds the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) Designation. Julie’s commitment to understanding her clients’ unique investment and wealth management needs has been instrumental in ensuring their long-term success.
One of Julie’s key areas of expertise is developing and implementing intergenerational wealth transfer strategies. She takes the time to understand and align the goals of all family members, crafting comprehensive strategies to help preserve wealth and create lasting legacies.
Originally from England, Julie moved to Canada with her family at age 14. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband, Doug, her children, Amanda and Chris, and her three grandchildren, James, Charlotte, and Lucas.
Associate Portfolio Manager
Shelley has been in the financial industry since 1998 and with RBC Dominion Securities since 2007. Shelley most enjoys meeting with clients and ensuring their investment portfolios align with their objectives. Being fluently bilingual, she seamlessly conducts these conversations in both official languages.
In addition to earning a financial certificate from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Education degree from McGill University, Shelley has achieved two designations: Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) and Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI).
An active lifestyle enthusiast, Shelley enjoys mountain biking, snowboarding, and boxing. She is also deeply committed to her community, supporting up to six charities in any given year. Her current chosen causes relate to women’s shelters, Indigenous reconciliation, and animal welfare.
Associate Advisor
With a lifelong passion for finance, Zee made his dream a reality by earning an honours degree in Finance from York University, along with the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) and Personal Financial Planner (PFP) Designations. He spent the next 10 years working in various discretionary portfolio management roles before joining the Grimes Handscomb team in 2023.
As an associate advisor, Zee focuses on monitoring markets, executing investment strategies, and conducting in-depth portfolio reviews to ensure alignment with client objectives.
Zee is motivated not only by the numbers but also by the relationships he builds with clients. He takes pride in offering personalized solutions tailored to each client’s unique financial goals and strives to make a positive impact through his work.
Outside of work, Zee enjoys spending time with his wife, Ivy, and their son, Bruce. Exploring Toronto’s parks and hiking trails is a family pastime. When he has time to himself, you can often find him on an outdoor basketball court, perfecting his jump shot.
From a young age, Andrew was fascinated by the world of investments and finance. Throughout high school he pursued his interest in the industry by focusing on subjects like economics, law, and finance. This passion naturally led him to pursue a career in wealth management.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with honours from the University of Windsor and has earned his Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) Designation. Since beginning his career in 2015, he has honed his experience in portfolio management, financial planning, and investment strategy – all skills he leverages now as an associate advisor.
Since joining the Grimes Handscomb team in early 2024, Andrew has been involved in all aspects of client wealth planning. Andrew finds fulfilment in helping clients feel more financially secure and is particularly passionate about enhancing their financial literacy. He values the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives by empowering them with the knowledge to confidently navigate their finances.
Outside of the office, Andrew enjoys staying active by running and participating in exercise classes. He also loves trying new foods and exploring different cuisines with his partner, Katie. Andrew keeps busy thanks to his two dogs – an Australian Shepherd and a Golden Doodle.
Senior Associate
Aurelia discovered her talent for accounting and math in college, which led to her pursuing a career in financial services. In her current role, she combines the best of both worlds, applying her problem-solving skills while helping others learn and achieve their goals.
A natural people-person, Aurelia enjoys interacting with clients and providing dedicated support. She handles a variety of essential administrative tasks, including coordination of wealth management specialists, preparation of tax packages, and collaboration with clients’ accountants.
Aurelia's responsibilities span both wealth management and client service. Her extensive experience, along with her exceptional analytical and communication skills, play a key role in shaping and delivering the team’s client service program.
Aurelia comes from a large family and enjoys keeping her Italian traditions alive while passing them down to the next generation. Whether she is bottling tomato sauce or cheering on one of her nieces or nephews at a sporting event, spending time with family is always her favourite pastime.
After earning an honours degree in Fine Art from the Ontario College of Art and Design, Laurie initially planned to become a teacher. However, her passion for people and business led her to the investment management industry. Having now been in the industry for over 25 years, Laurie is confident she made the right choice.
As a senior associate, she is the first point of contact for client queries, leveraging her strong listening and problem-solving skills. Laurie is passionate about forming long-term relationships with clients, assisting with a wide variety of matters relating to documentation, fund transfers, and account administration. Together with Aurelia, Laurie also oversees the coordination and execution of the team’s client service program.
Laurie has enjoyed expanding her cultural awareness and honed her leadership skills as a mentor through a joint partnership between RBC and the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC), where she helps skilled immigrants connect with experienced professionals in their field. She is also devoted to spearheading charitable campaigns and giving back as an RBC employee giving champion.
In her free time, Laurie enjoys live music and stays active by getting out on the water when she can, being part of several rowing and dragon-boating clubs.
Administrative Assistant
Karen completed a Bachelor’s degree in English language and literature, along with visual arts, from the University of Toronto. After graduation, she was offered an opportunity in the finance industry, and unexpectedly fell in love with it. She joined RBC Dominion Securities in 2013, following eight years of experience at another large international financial institution.
Karen plays a vital supporting role on the Grimes Handscomb team, particularly in managing client documentation. From the moment you become a client, Karen is there to onboard you, provide essential information, and handle all necessary documentation. She enjoys collaborating with the team and approaches challenges with an agile, solution-focused mindset.
Karen’s technological aptitude has made her the go-to person for assisting clients and team members with tech-related issues. Additionally, Karen is involved in special projects aimed at enhancing client service, and she is dedicated to delivering the highest quality support to clients.
Karen is an avid baker with a persistent sweet tooth – she frequently tests out new recipes on her family. Karen also loves to travel, and her fondness for pastries is why her favourite destination is France.
Navreet joined the Grimes Handscomb team in 2023 as an administrative assistant, bringing over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. In her role, she provides day-to-day client support, assisting with transactions and answering queries. Her strong technical background, combined with her financial expertise, allows her to support both our clients and the team.
Known for her proactive approach and forward-thinking mindset, Navreet is always eager to learn new processes and improve her knowledge. She prides herself on her attention to detail, which helps facilitate smooth, seamless client interactions.
Navreet holds a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from Punjab University in India and has also completed the Investment Funds in Canada (IFC) course from the Canadian Securities Institute.
In her free time, she enjoys outdoor walks, playing badminton, cooking, and spending time with her family.
