Craft your legacy carefully, because you don't know when it's going to start.

In the past 24 hours social media has been flooded with tributes and accolades for legendary basketball player Kobe Bryant whose sudden, unexpectedly and tragic death was further compounded by the knowledge that one of his daughters was also among the nine that died when the helicopter they were flying in crashed into a California coastal mountainside.

There is no doubt that this event will continue to reverberate and many will opine on the Kobe Bryant's legacy.

But what is your legacy?

Life is short, and it's unpredictable. But there are elements we can control and decisions we can make to leave behind a legacy for our heirs, our community and charities that we share values with.

In my experience in working with clients, fostering an environment of comfort and confidence helps leads to the subject of legacy as part of wealth management. Where a Will is not yet in place, an introduction to a notary can be facilitated. Where tax planning needs to occur, working with my estate planning team is a phone call away. If there is a need for insurance, we can implement it as part of your plan, together. These are the value added activities that make a difference and confer a peace of mind should something unexpected occur.

Craft your legacy carefully, because you don't know when it's going to start.
