It’s no secret we’ve all had to adapt, in some cases drastically, to the circumstances we’ve found ourselves in over these past number of months. While grocery and drug stores have largely remained open, food chain supply and scarcity of some products has us all thinking about the security of our most basic needs.

In this latest episode of the RBC Disruptors podcast here, John Stackhouse talks with Sarah Davis, President of Loblaw and Nilim Ganenthiran, President of Instacart. For those that don’t know, Instacart is an American company (developed by a Canadian engineering grad and former Amazon employee) operating a grocery delivery and pick-up service in both the US & Canada. They have partnerships with over 350 retailers including Costco, Loblaw, Safeway, Publix & Target (to name a few). Orders are fulfilled and delivered by an Instacart “personal shopper”, whose job it is to pick, pack and deliver the order within the customer’s designated time frame.

The episode digs into issues such as the future of grocery and how it might blend with both digital and in-store experiences. There is also discussion surrounding customer experience, shopping “local” and innovation.

I hope you enjoy listening,

Libby
