On June 15th, RBC Wealth Management presented a virtual event entitled, “The Future of Long-Term Care in Canada”. RBC partnered with Royal Trust and The National Institute on Ageing (NIA) to discuss issues surrounding long-term care, retirement lifestyle, protection from cyber-attacks and so on. You can listen to the ½ hour presentation HERE.
The hosts have also provided the following articles, which focus on the needs and protection of ageing Canadians:
COVID-19: How to empower older Canadians with personal and financial planning
5 common signs of financial elder abuse
During my conversations with a number of clients over the past few months especially, the topic of Executors and Powers of Attorney have cropped up. I think this is in part because when we have a little extra time on our hands we start thinking more about that to-do list. As the presentation highlights, a majority of Canadians don’t have a will, and just as importantly, don’t have Powers of Attorney (POAs) for personal or financial care.
To assist all of my clients interested in putting into place those vital missing pieces (Executors, POA’s, Trusts and so on), I have some excellent resources at my disposal. RBC DS has an entire department dedicated to Wills & Estates review and I’ve also developed a relationship with a Senior Trust Advisor at Royal Trust. A few clients have met with her specifically to talk about Corporate Executors and Powers of Attorney, and I’ve had some great feedback.
If you’d like to learn more about this subject, let me know and we’ll get a time booked to have a more in-depth discussion.
Thanks,
Libby
