Don is a graduate of Queen's University with an Honours Bachelor Degree in Commerce. He earned his Chartered Accountant designation in 1980 and went on to join RBC Dominion Securities. In 1983 Don achieved the prominent designation of Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI) and the certification of Canadian Investment Manager (CIM), both demonstrating his advanced academic and industry expertise in the field of investment management. For over 27 years the firm has recognized his accomplishments by naming him annually to the prestigious Chairman's Council.
Don has been involved with his local Rotary Club, and has sat on the Board of Directors for the Children's Hospital of Western Ontario and for the Bob Rumball Centre for the Deaf. He is the Past President for his local community sports association, and for a number of years chaired the Finance Committee at his church, where he continues to be involved.
Don is the third generation in the investment business. He is the son of Don J. Langill, who spent 56 years with RBC Dominion Securities. Don Sr. served most of his career in management roles with the firm and served as an Investment Advisor until his passing in 2004. Don's grandfather, S. J. Langill also spent his career having a tremendous passion for the investment business.
