Senior Portfolio Manager
The potential for making a positive impact on someone’s life is infinite – this is what drove David to make a career change from the oil and gas sector to wealth management in 2008. In two short years at another firm, David got a lifelong lesson on how not to approach his new vocation: “At its core, wealth management is stewardship,” says David. “If that doesn’t inform everything you do as an investment advisor, in my view, you’re doing it wrong."
In 2010, David founded Grinde Capital Management at RBC Dominion Securities with a strong focus on exceptional client service through comprehensive wealth planning. “I’m always asking myself: How can we do more for our clients?” says David. “How can we make their lives easier?” This is a guiding principle for the team, and has produced many complementary value-adds for clients. For instance, Grinde Capital Management acts like a family CFO, coordinating all financial deadlines and a comprehensive tax package for each client’s accountant.
A Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation holder, David works with his team to meticulously craft and maintain exceptional investment models. Keeping in close regular touch with clients is foundational to Grinde Capital Management’s ability to continue to best serve their needs. “Portfolio management is central to achieving a family’s financial and personal goals,” says David. “We work tirelessly to exceed the unique requirements laid out through our financial planning process.”
In his off hours, David with his wife, Meghan, stay very busy with their four young children. David enjoys family time spent snowboarding or at the lake as much as he cherishes the opportunity to be involved in coaching the kids’ hockey and baseball teams.

When she is not working, Emily likes to spend time with family and friends, as well as staying active by hiking, biking, and snowshoeing. Money is a powerful tool, and its mechanisms have interested Andrew for as long as he can remember. Having attained a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) degree from the Alberta School of Business in 2014, Andrew moved to Calgary to become a financial services manager at a major financial institution. Three years later, he made the move to RBC Dominion Securities as a business application specialist, teaching and consulting investment advisor teams on various software.
Andrew joined Grinde Capital Management in September of 2021, having impressed the team with his technological expertise and personable demeanor. “We experienced first-hand Andrew’s patience, attention to detail, and willingness to go the extra mile,” says David.
Andrew has studied the investment markets for years, both formally and informally, beginning with his ongoing journey as a self-directed investor in 2016 and earning the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation in 2020. As an investment associate, Andrew analyzes client portfolios, identifying and executing upon opportunities, bringing an energetic curiosity to his work. “Market research is like an investigation,” says Andrew. “There are so many moving parts, threads to follow.”
When he’s not working, Andrew can often be found spending time outdoors, running, biking, or working on his golf swing at the driving range.
